O Fundo Monetário Internacional e a proteção dos Direitos Humanos: Uma análise do programa de crescimento e redução da pobreza no Haiti

Resumo


A proteção dos direitos humanos é o destaque da agenda mundial contemporânea e peça fundamental para o saudável desenvolvimento da humanidade. Estes direitos, por vezes estão ligados a questões econômicas. O Fundo Monetário Internacional historicamente presta auxílio intelectual e financeiro a países com déficits na balança de pagamento. A relação do Fundo com os direitos humanos é altamente controvertida e discutida no âmbito acadêmico. Com o passar do tempo as formas e mecanismos de auxílio promovidos pelo FMI mudaram sobremaneira, tal fato carreou a criação do Programa de Crescimento e Redução da Pobreza, cujo escopo era auxiliar países altamente endividados e com elevados índices de pobreza. Sendo assim, o presente artigo analisará o referido programa no universo da República Haitiana, bem como a relação do Fundo Monetário Internacional com os direitos humanos.
